The state of Andhra Pradesh under Jagan Reddy is experiencing a high financial crunch and the YSRCP government is finding it difficult to fulfill their promises of Navaratnalu. In order to fulfill the poll promises, the government launched “Mission Build Andhra Pradesh” with an aim to sell precious land, and accordingly the GOAP has released a GO MS NO 447 dated 5-11-2019 through which the National Buildings Construction Corporation of India Limited (NBCC) was roped in to monetize land parcels. This GO further clarifies the intention of Jagan Reddy that the money would be used to fund the flagship schemes like Navaratnalu, Nadu-Nedu, and others, and a portion of the money will also be used to develop infrastructure.

Recently, the Jagan Mohan Reddy government has decided to auction 16.92 acres of prime land located at 18 different locations around Visakhapatnam. The estimated cost of these 18 parcels of prime land is 1470 crores. Out of these 16.92 acres, around 13.59 acres of land comes under waltair ward with Survey Number 1011.

In the year 2018, under the TDP tenure, a GO MS NO 5 was issued on 16-02-2018 in which 13.83 acres of land was allotted to M/S LULU International Shopping Mall Pvt. Ltd and out of the allotted 13.83 acres 9.12 acres of land falls under the same survey number 1011/1A1/1A2 located at the waltair ward.

Jagan Mohan Reddy after assuming power has canceled the land allotted to the LULU group. With the decision was taken by Jagan Mohan Reddy over 7000 youth of Visakhapatnam lost job opportunities. Now the prime land of 13.59 acres in the same survey number 1011 is being auctioned by the Jagan Mohan Reddy government with a reserve bid cost of Rs.1452 crores to raise funds for his empty treasury.

At a time when the real estate sector across the State had come to a grinding halt, auctioning of prime lands might be an attempt by Jagan Mohan Reddy to sell them to his supporters at cheaper prices. To fund the YSRCP populist schemes, instead of exploring alternatives to mobilizing money like pressuring the Centre to release pending funds owed to the state, Jagan Reddy is auctioning assets that harm the interests of future generations.
