The first day of the winter session of the Andhra Pradesh assembly was full of tension as 13 members belonging to the Telugu Desam Party including the opposition leader cum National President N. Chandrababu Naidu were suspended. During the discussion hour, as an important subject, TDP demanded for an immediate economic assistance of Rs. 10,000 and aid for the farmers who lost their crops in the recent heavy rains caused because of the cyclone Nivar. After the action of suspension, the legislators led by N. Chandrababu Naidu staged a protest outside the assembly against the YSRCP government led by Jaganmohan Reddy. TDP said in a tweet that the protest was carried out for the farmers who have lost everything due to cyclone Nivar.
In another important take, after immense pressure from the opposition, Chief Minister Jagan Reddy has said that the state government will settle crop insurance claims of the last Kharif season by next year. Keeping the utmost situation, the state government has now decided to form an AP General Insurance Corporation (APGIC) to promptly deliver insurance claims. Countering the YSRCP government’s claim, TDP tweeted the concerned order and attacked the YCP government saying the order on crop insurance was made at 09:06 pm, November 30 hours after TDP raised the concerned issue in the assembly. In recent times, YSRCP government has been staying in the limelight of criticisms for various anti-farmer policy stands and actions in the state.
