Sri Kalahasti ready for change

Sri Kalahasti has lost its sheen under the polluted waters of Swarnamukhi and chaotic traffic. Needless to mention how the publicity stunt of YSRCP MLA Biyyapu Madhusudhan Reddy in the midst of the pandemic turned the assembly constituency into a COVID hotspot.

After the YSRCP assumed power, the development of Srikalahasti has been halted. While the local YSRCP leaders are at the forefront of land grabbing across all the Mandals, the focus on infrastructure has been poor. The YSRCP government failed to complete the SS canal project which has been delayed for more than a year. The CC roads in the area designed for light vehicles are destroyed by heavy vehicles such as trucks and lorries used by the sand mafia being run under the influence of local YSRCP MLA & the party’s second-rung leaders. Further, many eligible beneficiaries of housing have pointed out that they were exempted from the final list and only supporters of YSRCP benefitted from the housing scheme. Despite demands from voters regarding the construction of a water storage tank near the Kanupuru canal, the YCP MLA has ignored the requests.. Also, the drainage canals are not in great condition in the Anikepalle region of the assembly which was severely damaged with the recent floods and heavy rains. The Toofan Shelter which was allotted under the previous regime works related to it has not yet started.

However, the story of progress in the constituency has been more optimistic during the previous TDP Government. Under the leadership of N Chandrababu Naidu, the constituency benefitted under various initiatives.  Indian Culinary University at Kurakalva village of Renigunta Mandal with Rs.85 crores has been established, ceramic clusters at Tatiparthi Village and Dialysis unit at Government Area hospitals were established. The long-pending drinking water issue has been mitigated by providing water to villages of Renigunta and Yerpedu Mandals from the Telugu Ganga canal with an expenditure of Rs. 35 crores.

TDP candidate Panabaka Lakshmi has been receiving overwhelming responses for her campaign. After interacting with the voters of Tirupati with the blessings of Lord Venkateswara, she will be visiting SriKalahasti today to interact with the voters of the segment.
