The political fraternity of Andhra Pradesh including major political parties like the Telugu Desam Party, ten left parties, and Indian National Congress have held and observed a state-wide bandh to protest against the government’s decision to privatize the Visakhapatnam Steel Plant or officially known as the Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Limited (RINL).
Even the ruling party YSR Congress had expressed solidarity with the protest but their double standards and inability to convince and freeze the move by the Union government have been widely criticized by different political entities that participated in the movement.
The state of Andhra Pradesh especially the city of Visakhapatnam has been witnessing massive social reactions from the workers’ unions, political parties, and even from the general public of the city against the privatization measure by the Union government. The state ruling party YSRCP also faced criticisms from the opposition parties that despite having 28 members in the Parliament houses the party has failed to represent the spirit and aspirations of the city of Visakhapatnam.
Major educational institutions and state universities have also remained closed for the state-wide bandh. In addition to that, the Former Chief Minister and TDP Supremo N. Chandrababu Naidu will be touring around the different legislative assemblies of Visakhapatnam on Friday evening.
