Andhra Pradesh Pattana Poura Samakhya decided to protest against the government’s decision to hike the property taxes and change the way of generating property taxes based on property value rather than based on rental value.
The government of Andhra Pradesh has recently decided to implement ULB reforms suggested by the central government to gain additional borrowing provisions along with meters for agricultural water pumps.
Protesting against the decision, APPPS convener Ch. Babu Rao held a press conference and shared details about the “Praja Bheri Yatra” planned in the 13 districts of the state covering a distance of over 3000 kilometers. APPPS decided to protest in front of all the municipal offices in the state and form the Joint Action Committee (JAC) and demanded all the political parties to join hands with them in condemning the actions of the state.
He even criticized the Municipal Administration Minister Botsa Satyanarayana for misleading the people by supporting the reforms and saying that there would be an increase of only 15% in the property tax. Addressing the media, he stated that it was the willful intent of the government to burden the people already suffering from the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.
