Ahead of the upcoming Tirupati by-polls, the history of Jagan’s disproportionate assets cases is now under the spotlight again. It is widely known that the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh has an extensive list of criminal cases on him, with no charges ever being filed against him. Jagan has a total of 38 cases filed against him, with charges related to cheating and dishonesty, criminal intimidation, punishment of criminal conspiracy, and many more, including 28 serious IPCs.
After coming to power, Jagan had repeatedly filed petitions requesting exemption from making personal appearances in the CBI court, in connection with the disproportionate asset cases against him, for which the court had publicly expressed dissatisfaction. It was also widely speculated that Jagan’s frequent visits to Amit Shah in Delhi, were never to address the issues of the state, but instead, it was to get rid of the cases against him.
Recently, BJP National Secretary and Andhra Pradesh state-in-charge Sunil Deodhar, speaking at a meeting in Tirupati, stated that the Chief Minister’s bail could get canceled at any time. Speaking at the meeting, Sunil said, “ The Chief Minister is out on bail, he is roaming out on bail. That is why leaders of YSRCP should remember while talking or tweeting on social media that many of them are out on bail and anytime, their bail will be suspended”.
